HONOURABLE JOHN DELLA BOSCA AM APPOINTED AS DIA BOARD CHAIR

Disability Intermediaries Australia, Australia’s Peak Body for Plan Management and Support Coordination providers and practitioners, announced that the Honourable John Della Bosca AM appointed DIA Board Chair. John will replace outgoing Board Chair Mrs Julie Keene on 1 July 2023. 

John joins the DIA Board with personal lived experience of disability and is well known within the Australian disability community having been the campaign director for Every Australian Counts for seven years.  Beyond John’s experience and understanding of the Australian Disability Landscape, he has had a long and successful career as a Minister in the NSW Government, including as the NSW Minister for Disability.  

On his appointment John Della Bosca said: 

I am extremely honoured to accept this appointment and I would like to thank the DIA Board for their trust and confidence in me for this role. I look forward to working closely with the board, Mr Jess Harper our CEO and all of DIA’s members whom this organisation was established to support.” 

The Directors of DIA are excited to welcome John to the Board. John’s appointment comes after an open, robust and competitive recruitment process.  On John’s appointment retiring Board Chair Mrs Julie Keene said: 

“On behalf of the DIA Board we welcome John as DIA’s next Chair. John brings a wealth of invaluable skills and experience, not only as a Board Member and Chair in the not-for-profit sector, but also his numerous roles across the disability sector over a number of years.  John demonstrates a deep understanding of the NDIS, and the important role intermediaries play in delivering on the original intent of the scheme.  We very much look forward to John joining DIA and to support the vital work we are doing on behalf of our members and the wider disability sector.” 

Mr Jess Harper, DIA’s CEO congratulated John on his appointment as Chair saying: 

“Having joined the organisation as CEO 4 years ago, I have been supported by Julie as chair, and by our board. Their high level, professional input has been extremely important for the establishment and success of DIA. I am very much looking forward to continuing to work closely with the board and John as the new Chair as we deliver on the objectives of our strategic plan and focus on the future of Plan Management and Support Coordination.”  

The Board and everyone at DIA would like to thank Julie for her service to the Intermediaries sector and wish her all the very best when she officially departs DIA on 30 June 2023.  Julie has made a significant contribution during her time and has worked hard to ensure our members have a voice and are provided with support from their peak body.
